Photocopying machines: Library has two photocopiers (10 cents per page) and one color copier (25 cents per page). You may use coins or dollar bills; change is available at the desk.   Library also has a public scanner and four network computers with Microsoft Office.

Printer: Library also has a networked printer, M113a.  Jobs may be sent from anywhere on campus for pickup in the Library.

Reference: Librarians are on duty all hours that the library is open to assist users. (248) 204-3000 for assistance.

Book Renewals: Bring the books to be renewed into the library, or call (248) 204-3000 to renew. Remember, books may be renewed only if no one else is waiting for them. Students, Faculty and Staff also may renew books one time via the link under "My Account" in the online catalog.

Book Returns: Drop books in the slot in the front desk, or use the book return chute in the hallway. Do not leave books on the countertop.

Guest Users: Non-students are welcome to use the library, but have limited privileges, ask at the desk for details.

Where Materials are Located:

  • Circulating books can be checked-out, and are in the "LTU Library Stacks" shelved by the Library of Congress CALL NUMBER .
  • Periodicals are shelved alphabetically by TITLE.
  • Reserve books are kept behind the Circulation Desk.
  • Reference books are located near the Reference Desk and are for library use only.
  • Oversize books are shelved in a separate location just beyond the center magazine browsing shelves, in the first range of beige shelving stacks.
  • Kahn Library is a specialized collection.  A staff member can retrieve these materials.  All Kahn Library books are listed in the online catalog.

Access to Resources Elsewhere:

  • MiLE (Michigan Library Exchange): Request books from over 160 libraries in Southeast Michigan, delivered to LTU on a weekly basis.  Details
  • Reciprocal Borrowing: Walk-in borrowing at Southfield Public Library and numerous local academic libraries.  Check the list of participating libraries
  • Infopass: Allows book check-out at most nearby academic libraries that do not participate in Reciprocal Borrowing.
  • Interlibrary Loan: For books or journal articles not available locally.  Consult the library to place an order.
